Nelson Eater/Feeding Device

Tremor reducing device NELSON is a self feeding device for persons challenged by tremors or other problems in motor coordination. The device enables them to eat independently.

 

Users mostly are persons suffering from MS, Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy or other neurological disorders. In daily life partners or other people living with users benefit from the NELSON as the disabled person can eat independently again. So everybody can enjoy an undisturbed dinner, socialize and have a pleasant and equal position at the dinner table.

 

The user operates the lever arm which has the spoon. The spoon always remains level no matter how high/ low the lever arm is. This lever arm is connected to a unique tremor reducing system which neutralises and guides the uncoordinated movements of the user resulting in smooth and controlled movements of the spoon.

 

Tremors and coordination problems are very individual in nature. The frequency and severeness differ from person to person. NELSON is the only tremor reducing self feeding device that allows for individual adjustment of ‘resistance’. This adjustment can be applied in the horizontal and vertical plane.

 

In addition, the spoon and plate has been carefully designed for their specific use perfectly allowing the user to easily pick up many kinds of food. The plate revolves to enable the spoon to reach all the food on the plate.
