Meet the latest champion on the Shaping Better Lives Team! Keith Lucking, BSc (Hons) OT, NZROT has recently joined Medifab as Equipment Specialist for the Lower South Island region.
Keith graduated as an Occupational Therapist from University of East Anglia, Norwich (UK) in 2001 and has developed a strong passion for seating and positioning. He has a deep empathy of how complex postural management can have a strong influence on a person’s function, health and their ability to lead a positive lifestyle.
Over the past 17 years Keith has worked as a therapist predominantly within the Postural management sector both in the UK & NZ. Originally from North Wales, Keith worked for the Posture & Mobility Service before emigrating to NZ in 2004, where he worked as a specialist wheelchair & Seating assessor for MOH/ACC contracts in the North Island before moving to the South Island. He then worked for a ‘Not for Profit Hospital’ in Christchurch as their wheelchair & seating therapist before returning for a second time to the North Island.
He returned to Wales in 2010 and the Posture & Mobility service becoming their Team Lead for the Paediatric section and developing a training module for the local university under graduate OT programme. He also developed and delivered a referrer training programme for the service.
Returning to NZ in 2017 he has spent the last 12 months as a Wheelchair & Seating therapist in a specialised wheelchair service completing assessment & provision of MOH equipment. He recently relocated to Dunedin and is now working as a Specialised Product Consultant for Medifab.
Keith takes pride in being an active member of the client’s journey in achieving the best possible outcome for their identified goals and shaping better lives.
