Covers
Additional PU or cotton covers are available for each cushion, except for the heel pad.
Picture to right shows the Semi-Fowler Cushion with an additional cotton cover.

Filling
The filling of CareWave cushions is composed of high quality round polystyrene micro particles.
As thin as sand, the extreme small form-factor of the bids used in the cushions allows rapid and easy postures, comfortably maintaining the patient's body parts in contact with the cushion while relieving pressure on areas with risk of bedsores.
Thanks to the combination of these micro-beads together with the polyurethane bi-elastic cover, CareWave Cushions:

The heel pad and the heel cushion are also composed of fiber which allows the material to remain static during use.
Carcinogenic Effects
The expanded polystyrene (as used for the filling of CareWave cushions) is widely used in disposable food containers with very strict requirements as it is in direct contact with food with the risk be ingested.
Several epidemiological studies have been made, with rather important styrene exposure levels and absence of exposure to other chemicals.
These studies do not show any association between cancer and styrene.
